Instruments care

01

Immediate Rinsing

Rinse instruments under warm water immediately after use to remove blood, tissue, or debris. Avoid letting contaminants dry on the instruments.

02

Pre-Cleaning

Use a soft brush or cloth to gently scrub away visible debris with an appropriate cleaning solution. Avoid abrasive materials to prevent scratching.

02

03

Thorough Cleaning

Place instruments in an ultrasonic cleaner or manually clean with a mild, non-corrosive detergent. Ensure all hinges, grooves, and serrations are cleaned thoroughly.

04

Rinsing

Rinse instruments with distilled or deionized water to remove all traces of detergent and residue.

04

05

Drying

Dry instruments completely using a lint-free cloth or air dryer. Moisture left on instruments can lead to corrosion.

06

Inspection

Inspect instruments for any signs of damage, dull edges, or residue. Ensure moving parts, such as hinges and locks, are functioning properly.

06

07

Lubrication

Apply a surgical-grade lubricant to joints and hinges to prevent stiffness and protect against rust.

08

Sterilization

Sterilize instruments according to manufacturer guidelines, ensuring proper temperatures and durations in an autoclave or other sterilization method.

08

09

Proper Storage

Store instruments in a clean, dry environment, ideally in protective trays or pouches. Ensure instruments are not stacked to prevent damage.
